Wilson's connectors come in two variations; Male and Female. The gender of the connector is determined by the presence or absence of the pin that conducts the signal. It is a common mistake to assume the first image below is a male end based upon how gender is determined in other types of fittings.
Use 50-ohm connectors designed for cellular frequencies. Wilson uses FME and N connectors. Other popular connectors used in mobile communication applications include Mini-UHF, TNC and SMA. Wilson uses N connectors for all building application components.
It is not recommended. PL-259 (also known as UHF) connectors are rated for a maximum of 300 MHz and are not effective at cellular frequencies.
